Does the quoted rental price include insurance cover?

Rentals automatically include all necessary insurances required under the laws of Trinidad & Tobago (T&T).  However, in the event of loss or damage to the vehicle, the hirer or authorised driver may still have some liability. See our Insurance & CDW page for full details.

Do you offer additional damage-waiver protection?

Yes! Customers may choose optional Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) - sometimes known as Damage to Vehicle Waiver (DVW) - which limits the amount (excess) payable by the hirer if the vehicle, or any of its parts or accessories, are damaged while on rental. The cost of CDW depends upon the level of cover required and the type of vehicle. These options are fully detailed in the vehicle listings in Our Fleet and on the Insurance & CDW pages. Full CDW is only available on rentals of 7 (seven) days and longer.

My credit card offers CDW cover. Is this valid for rentals from Sheppy's?

Some credit card companies and travel insurance policies offer collision damage waiver on rentals abroad. However, it is essential that you check with the card/insurance company to ensure that the cover applies to vehicle rentals in Tobago and to determine what information/receipts might be required in the event of a claim. In all cases, the total liability will be charged to your credit card and you will need to claim this sum back from the card or insurance company concerned.

Are all your vehicles fully insured for rental?

Yes! Under T&T law, the first letter of a vehicle's registration indicates the vehicle's licensing class. Cars with a 'P' registration plate are for private or non-commercial usage. Rental vehicles carry number starting with 'R'. Smaller agencies and private owners often rent our 'P' cars insured for private use to visitors. This could render the insurance invalid in the event of a claim. Although we do have a few cars with 'P' plates, all our vehicles carry full 'hire and reward' insurance. This can be verified by examining the certificate of insurance, which will be found in the front locker of your vehicle (as required by T&T law).

Do you provide Child Car Seats?

Yes, we most certainly do. We offer a choice of infant car seats and child booster seats. Please see our Child Car Seats page for further information.

Are there any driver restrictions or charges for under-age drivers?

Minimum Age : 25 Maximum: 75 years.

Are there any driver license restrictions?

All drivers must have held a valid driver's license for at least two years.

Do you accept Credit Cards?

We accept MasterCard and VISA credit cards.

Do you offer free delivery of vehicles to hotels or rental homes?

Yes! We offer free delivery and collection of vehicles within Crown Point and environs. A nominal charge is made for delivery and collection to other areas.

Do you charge for fuel?

The vehicle will be delivered to you with a full (or near full) tank of fuel. We simply ask that you return the vehicle topped up to the same level. Please be aware that there are very few filling stations outside the more popular south-western region of Tobago. You should always ensure that you have a full tank of fuel before visiting more remote areas of the island.

When must I return the vehicle?

All vehicles are rented on a 24-hour basis. Therefore, if your hire a vehicle from 10am one day, it must be returned by 10am the following day. If the return is any later, you will be charged for additional hours or an extra day.

Can other people drive the vehicle?

Any additional drivers must be declared on the reservation, or at the time of collection. All drivers must be at least 25 years of age and have held a valid driving license for no less than two years.
